Welcome to the LBJ Express web site. We hope that you will utilize this site as an important resource for up-to-date activity during construction and operations of the project.
Described by state transportation leaders as the most comprehensive and complex project of its type in the country, the approximately 13-mile LBJ Express project encompasses improvements along IH-635 from Luna Road to Greenville Avenue, as well as on IH-35E between Loop 12 and Valwood Parkway.
Once completed, the LBJ Express Project will feature some of the most innovative congestion management solutions in the country. By employing new tolled TEXpress Lanes we will offer drivers a choice in their daily commute. By providing variable tolled lanes, the LBJ Express will allow drivers to maintain a more predictable rate of speed. The idea is CHOICE! You have new, safer non-tolled lanes, fully optimized frontage roads and brand new TEXpress Lanes that will offer you a convenient trip from one end of the project to the other.
The LBJ Express Project will add two of these TEXpress Lanes on I-35E northbound and southbound. On LBJ Freeway, we will add continuous frontage roads, safer non-tolled Main Lanes (four in each direction) and the new TEXpress Lanes - three in each direction.
